We know our defense isn't very good, but I was rather impressed with Brown's offense -- lots of ball movement, and relentless pressure on every defender. We played with energy on defense, but not nearly effective enough.
I was more frustrated by our awful FT shooting. Even guys you know can shoot them looked lost. Very peculiar.

This was just a pitiful defensive performance. We looked better last week, and it was all the way back to square one again tonight. Brown was practically dribbling circles around some of our guys in the second half. They're not a team that should be beating anyone by double digits on the road, and we let it happen by missing an innumerable amount of free throws, turning the ball over, and playing dreadful team defense.
I'm becoming more and more concerned with Earl and whether or not he can coach in this league. The players are not responding to him, and he just stands on the sidelines with his arms folded during games instead of taking a more active approach. Free throw shooting was a problem under Courtney, but now it's getting worse. Same with off-ball defense and turnovers. He's playing guys like Jack Gordon who couldn't guard a cardboard cutout over high-energy players such as Joel Davis. And people wonder why we're terrible on defense. His substitution patterns are erratic and poorly reasoned, and he keeps pulling Matt Morgan from the game right as Morgan is getting into a rhythm. What's up with that?
Yale should win easily tomorrow night. They play sound defense and should have no problem shutting down our offense. Maybe we can keep it close for awhile if Darryl Smith gets more minutes, and Stone Gettings actually crashes the boards instead of chucking up stupid threes.

This is like a bizzaro-CBRF post (what's the opposite of relentlessly defending every flaw in a coach?). Earl has a total of 20 games under his belt as HC, and he will continually adapt his coaching style and philosophy as he gains more experience. Do we not remember BC's first few years as coach, where he showed almost the opposite demeanor, ripping players as they were taken off the court while using similarly erratic substitutions? For his faults as an X's and O's coach, I will credit BC for evolving that original (unbecoming) demeanor to how he coached at the end of his tenure. I agree with your overall point, and hopefully BE begins to evolve his own demeanor into something with a little more urgency. The team is young and is implementing a new system. This was never going to be a year to remember, so just enjoy the flashes of potential and hope that the stumbles help the team grow in the future.

One has to give credit to Brown's coaching staff and players. Brown did an excellent job clogging the interior passing lanes and taking away Cornell's backdoor cuts. Brown was superior athletically and they seemed to gobble up every loose ball plus their amazing 3 point shooting. All that said if Hatter's 2 3 point shots hadn't rimmed out in the 2nd half there might have been a different outcome.

I'll say it again, Courtney left no athletic front court players in the system when Earl took over. He could recruit guards but with few exceptions (Shonn Miller), he failed to recruit athletic centers or PFs.

The game has been delayed due to a campus-wide power outage. Tip-off estimated for 7:50 pm EST.

Tough weekend. They do need more forwards as recruits.

Tough weekend. They do need more forwards as recruits. You have to give Earl a few recruiting classes to see if he can reverse the trend that Courtney had in not bring in front court players.
